Javelins 600 g
Nordic javelins are a hallmark among competitive athletes and event organisers around the world. The famous Swedish javelins were first manufactured from thin-walled steel tubing by Seefab, Sandviken, more than 50 years ago, and have since then earned worldwide fame. In 1973 Nordic Sport took over the production.
Nordic javelins have been used to achieve outstanding results, including numerous Olympic and World Championship medals and world records. The result achieved by a javelin thrower naturally depends on their skill. The materials and construction of the javelin, however, are also of the utmost importance.
As a result of unique know-how and intensive research, the quality of the Nordic javelin has continuously been improved. We are determined to maintain this development.
Nordic javelins have won more championship medals and beaten more records than any other javelin in the world. Nordic Sport presents a wide range of javelins. All are manufactured with the renowned Nordic finish and quality.
New Technology
Advance Tip Control
What is Advance Tip Control? It is our way to optimise moment of inertia of the javelin. ATC technology helps the javelin correct itself immediately to its flight path, reducing its tendency to change direction in the air. It stays on the intended trajectory. Another major benefit is that you can feel the intended direction and flight path during the run-up.
What determines the distance of a javelin throw?
The athlete’s skill is the most important factor in determining throwing distance. This guide explains how different factors affect performance and help the thrower feel as comfortable as possible with the javelin.
Skill level
Javelins are designed for athletes with different skill levels. For example, if a beginner uses an expert-level javelin, it will not perform as intended.
Here is how we rate skill levels:
- Novice
- Advanced Beginner
- Skilled
- Specialist
- Expert
Stiffness
The stiffer the javelin, the less it will flex/vibrate in the air and will result in less air drag. The downside is that it puts a lot more strain on the upper body.
A soft javelin flexes/vibrates a lot, which can also be a very good thing if you are a less experienced thrower.
Aerodynamics
This is the difference between throwing an iron pipe and a finely tuned javelin.
The two main factors affecting the cost of a javelin are the choice of material and the fine-tuning of its geometry. We have invested a lot of time to find the best aerodynamics for the longest flight depending on the javelin’s stiffness and balance.
Balance
Balance and aerodynamics determine when, at a given speed, the javelin turns its tip down towards the ground.
If your javelin tends to land flat, try a javelin with lower aerodynamics and balance ratings. Our top-performing javelins have their centre of mass close to the limit permitted by World Athletics.
