The ice crampons should sit high up against the neck, so that you can easily find them if an accident should occur. The length of the neck rope is adjustable, so you can easily adjust so that the ice crampons end up at the right height. If you go through the ice, try to stay calm. Tread water with your legs and head in the direction you came from. Stick the spikes into the ice as far forward as possible, and kick/swim with your legs. Once on the ice, slide forward using your ice spikes until you are on stable ice.
